Direct B2B meetings at trade fairs and purchasing trips

By tailor-made matchmaking, the IPD facilitates direct B2B meetings and long-term business contacts to reliable buyers. We organise the participation in international trade fairs for our exporters.

With our purchasing trips we take interested buyers directly to the suppliers in our partner countries. This enables buyers from Europe to obtain first-hand information on product quality and production conditions in the respective field. Suppliers can discuss and negotiate requirements and offers with prospective customers on the spot and in concrete terms.

Our individual trainings and workshops also provide you with the necessary expertise in quality, process and export management to enable you to export to the EU with lasting success.

The interzum 2021 - the world's leading trade fair for the furniture manufacturing and interior design industry - is adapting to current circumstances and offering the fair as a hybrid event under the motto "Your space for the future - on-site and digital". 

In cooperation with ITPC (Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Hamburg), IPD will present Indonesian companies with their high-quality products. Let yourself be convinced by the products made of fast-growing, light woods, such as blockboards and plywood from Jabon and Albasia. These are used in a variety of applications, including furniture and construction. Specialised companies in Germany offer customised coating solutions.

Lightweight wood from Indonesia surpasses other types of wood not only because of its weight. Tests conducted by EPH Dresden have confirmed this: In terms of gross density, screw pull-out resistance and bending strength, Indonesian light woods of the Albasia and Jabon varieties can definitely keep up with the classics such as MDF, chipboard or poplar plywood. They thus offer an equivalent alternative to conventional wood-based materials.

All producers were tested and selected by the IPD. Criteria such as quality of the products, exportability and capacity as well as access to and use of legal wood from sustainable sources were taken into account. Some of the products have CE marking.

IPD Virtual B2B Event "Fresh Produce"

 

Fresh herbs, high-quality fruit and vegetables from new markets
Make contacts with reliable producers in individual online meetings

Due to the cancellation of the Fruit Logistica Special Edition, IPD decided at short notice to present the range of fresh fruits and vegetables from IPD partner countries in individual video meetings.

More than 30 companies from Egypt, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Ghana, Colombia, Morocco, Peru and Ukraine are participating. They will present a wide range of fruits and vegetables.

You will find, for example, mangoes, papayas and pineapples from producers in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana. Or grapes, oranges, lemons, strawberries and fresh herbs, spinach, peppers and garlic offered by suppliers from Egypt and Ethiopia.
The range of subtropical and tropical fruits is enriched by exhibitors from Ecuador, Colombia and Peru, such as passion fruit, pitahayas, bananas, physalis as well as avocados. In addition, companies from Peru offer sweet potato as well as fresh ginger and turmeric in organic quality. Producers from Ukraine . present sweet potatoes, Hokkaido pumpkin, plums, peaches or blueberries

All exporters are carefully screened. We take into account criteria such as product quality, export capability and capacity, as well as compliance with international standards and certifications.

International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF) - new date!

 

Establishing contacts

Due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus Sars-CoV-2, the International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF Expo) - the trade fair for cut flowers and pot plants has been postponed. The new date is now 03. - 05.11.2021.

The IPD plans to be represented with an own booth at the fair to present selected cut flower exporters from Ecuador and Colombia. Their rich offer includes roses, gypsophila or chrysanthemums, cut foliage and rarities like matthiola.

All exporters presented are carefully prepared by IPD. Thus ensuring they are equipped with the required certificates for the European market and are familiar with the demands of the European trade sector.
Immediately before and during the fair the IPD will offer practical support for the exhibition, including e.g. compilation of current market information, guidance on stand decoration, sales training for successful communication with potential customers.

Through targeted matchmaking, IPD will network these exporters with the right importers in the EU, arranging initial contacts before the fair, organizing and accompanying b2b meetings during the exhibition and supporting the follow-up after the fair is over.

IPD presents Africa's fruit and vegetable diversity

Exporters from Egypt, Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and Morocco as well as from four other IPD partner countries show their high-quality product range at the virtual B2B event "Fresh Produce".
Bonn/Berlin, April 14, 2021 - Mangoes, grapes, citrus fruits, pomegranates as well as sweet potatoes, fresh herbs and sugar snap peas are part of Africa's fruit and vegetable diversity that exporters will present at the Import Promotion Desk’s (IPD) virtual B2B meetings. The offerings from Egypt, Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and Morocco will be a focus of the Virtual B2B Event "Fresh Produce," which runs May 10-28. In addition, the import promotion initiative will present other companies from the IPD partner countries Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Ukraine. Following the cancellation of the Fruit Logistica Special Edition, the IPD has decided at short notice to present the range of fresh fruit and vegetables from IPD partner countries in individual video meetings.

interzum 2021: Wide range of wood products from sustainable forestry

Bonn/Berlin, April 14, 2021 - The Import Promotion Desk (IPD) will be presenting a wide range of wood products from sustainable forestry at interzum, which this year will be held virtually from May 4 to 7. The import promotion initiative will accompany producers of plantation-grown teak and Guadua bamboo from Ecuador and Colombia, as well as Ukrainian exporters of high-quality table tops made from reclaimed oak and moulded beech wood components to this year's leading international trade fair for furniture manufacturing and interior design. "The IPD's aim is to present a diverse range of high-quality wood products and, above all, special timber species to the timber trade in Europe," says Frank Maul, expert for sourcing and markets at the IPD. "In this context, the legal and sustainable origin of the woods is a basic requirement of our commitment."

IPD presents sustainable travel offers at virtual ITB Berlin NOW!

Free services: IPD brings European tour operators together with reliable partners from developing and emerging countries

Bonn/Berlin, 17.02.2021 - At this year's ITB, the Import Promotion Desk (IPD) will present its entire tourism offer with 25 travel providers from Ecuador, Nepal and Tunisia for the first time. The travel offers are individual, distinct from mass tourism and particularly consider sustainability criteria. The import promotion initiative, a project of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), has carefully selected the tourism companies and is now supporting them on their way to the European market. This year, the IPD's tourism offer is set to grow further, with the inclusion of Uzbekistan as a new partner country.

IPD supports organic producers at Biofach eSPECIAL

Bonn/Berlin, 28/01/2020 - Nearly 40 producers from developing and emerging countries will be presented to European trade visitors by the Import Promotion Desk (IPD) at this year's Biofach. This year, the world's leading trade fair for organic food will take place in virtual form from February 17 to 19. For the seventh time, IPD together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), leading provider of in-ternational cooperation services, will present the wide range of organic products from developing and emerging countries under the motto "Organic Sourcing for Develop-ment". The Import Promotion Initiative’s free matchmaking services are open to all Euro-pean importers: IPD brings together traders from Europe with producers from developing and emerging countries.

With the entry into force of the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) in March 2013, a crucial step to combat global illegal logging was taken and thus public acceptability of wood as material from renewable resources was improved. Legal and sustainable tropical timber from Peru

The Import Promotion Desk (IPD) and its partners in Peru support responsibly operating companies in their efforts to export certified timber products to Europe. An essential part of IPD’s work is to create awareness of European quality and sustainability standards in Peru’s private and public sectors. At the same time, the IPD provides German importers with an alternative buying market, which will allow them to optimise their purchasing activities and increase their product variety. In this way, international development cooperation and import promotion go hand in hand.

Asphaltum / shilajit / stone oil

More and more European consumers are interested in non-Western health solutions. Those of an Ayurvedic tradition are often used in conjunction with wider lifestyle choices, encompassing nutrition, exercise and meditation, but products such as shilajit are also used in food supplements outside of this tradition. Cosmetics with shilajit are also marketed in Germany. The German market is less developed than the UK and especially Eastern European markets but does offer opportunities. German market entry can also take place through manufacturers in these other markets.
