Our services are geared towards small and medium-sized companies from emerging markets and developing countries with few or no existing contacts to Europe. Any company which fulfils our programme criteria can apply to IPD.

At the same time we contribute to strengthening the economic structures in our partner countries.

Hand in hand with the German private sector

The IPD is an initiative established by the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA) and sequa gGmbH – the development organisation and partner of the German private sector. We are funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The tourism industry has been particularly hard hit by the effects of the Covid-19 crisis. IPD supports SME tourism companies and provides recommendations and strategies for dealing with the current situation.

IPD UPDATE 2 // 2021

In July 2021, IPD has embarked on its fourth project phase. We will be expanding our offer and taking on board two new partner countries – Morocco and Uzbekistan – in our programme. In addition to this, IPD will be opening regional offices in selected partner countries with immediate effect in order to further expand its work on the ground and, in particular, its cooperation with local export promotion organisations.

Anuga 2021: Variety of natural ingredients

Producers from ten developing countries and emerging nations show the wide range and high quality of processed fruit and vegetables

Bonn/Berlin, 14.09.2021 – A wide variety of processed fruits and vegetables – including freeze-dried bananas, guanabana puree, fruit powder, dried courgettes and peppers as well as jalapeño and chilli peppers – will be presented by the Import Promotion Desk (IPD) at this year's Anuga. Around 30 IPD companies from developing and emerging countries will be showing their range of natural ingredients at the world's leading trade fair for the food and beverage industry, taking place in Cologne from the 9th  to 13th of October.

Fruit Attraction 2021: IPD paves the way for diverse offers from South America

Producers from Ecuador, Colombia and Peru as well as four more IPD partner countries to present their premium-quality fruit and vegetable offers at “Fruit Attraction”

Bonn/Berlin, 31 August 2021 – Subtropical and tropical fruits are much in demand on the European market. And producers from South America offer an immense diversity of prod-ucts as well as premium quality. Import Promotion Desk (IPD) will be presenting fresh fruit offerings from Ecuador, Colombia and Peru at the international “Fruit Attraction” trade fair scheduled for 5 to 7 October in Madrid. In addition to this, the import promotion initiative will be showcasing further specialities from Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Ukraine. All in all, IPD supports a total of 30 companies from its partner countries, as well as further pro-ducers from Morocco and Ethiopia as part of its cooperation with GIZ, Germany’s associa-tion for international cooperation.

IPD presents Africa's fruit and vegetable diversity

Exporters from Egypt, Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and Morocco as well as from four other IPD partner countries show their high-quality product range at the virtual B2B event "Fresh Produce".
Bonn/Berlin, April 14, 2021 - Mangoes, grapes, citrus fruits, pomegranates as well as sweet potatoes, fresh herbs and sugar snap peas are part of Africa's fruit and vegetable diversity that exporters will present at the Import Promotion Desk’s (IPD) virtual B2B meetings. The offerings from Egypt, Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and Morocco will be a focus of the Virtual B2B Event "Fresh Produce," which runs May 10-28. In addition, the import promotion initiative will present other companies from the IPD partner countries Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Ukraine. Following the cancellation of the Fruit Logistica Special Edition, the IPD has decided at short notice to present the range of fresh fruit and vegetables from IPD partner countries in individual video meetings.

Fruit Attraction 2021

IPD exhibits at the international trade fair for fresh fruit & vegetables

After last year's Fruit Attraction was held as a digital trade fair, IPD is going to be on site again this year with its own booth.

We will introduce European importers to carefully screened suppliers from our partner countries, including Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Côte dÌvoire, Ecuador, Ghana, Morocco, Peru and Ukraine.

All exporters are carefully prepared by IPD. Thus ensuring they are equipped with the required certificates for the European market and are familiar with the demands of the German trade sector.

Immediately before and during the virtual trade fair IPD will offer practical support for the exhibition, including e.g. compilation of current market information, technical support and sales training for successful online communication with potential customers.

International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF) - new date!

Due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus Sars-CoV-2, the International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF Expo) - the trade fair for cut flowers and pot plants has been postponed. The new date is now 03. - 05.11.2021.

The IPD plans to be represented with an own booth at the fair to present selected cut flower exporters from Ecuador and Colombia. Their rich offer includes roses, gypsophila or chrysanthemums, cut foliage and rarities like matthiola.

All exporters presented are carefully prepared by IPD. Thus ensuring they are equipped with the required certificates for the European market and are familiar with the demands of the European trade sector.

The Ukrainian company Gadz provides high-quality fruit for the European market. Although it has only been in the IPD programme since 2020, Gadz has already convinced the British importer Fresh4U of the quality of its products and its value as a reliable supplier. This business relationship demonstrates the advantages of the Ukraine as a production location: besides geographic proximity, short transport routes and favourable farming conditions, the country also offers a wide range of fresh fruit & vegetables in high quality. IPD supports both exporters and importers to ensure that the collaboration is a success story for both sides.

Preparing for a new start in tourism

The Import Promotion Desk (IPD) is supporting the Ministry of Tourism in Ecuador (MINTUR) as it prepares to
relaunch tourism in the country. In conjunction with the consulting firm Hotel Resilient, which specialises in risk and
crisis management, the health and hygiene concepts for the tourism sector have been adapted to internationally
valid standards and a concept for hygiene and safety training has been developed. In the first three months, more than
400 Ecuadorian tourism professionals have already been trained; an e-learning program has also been launched.

IPD successfully prepares young enterprise for the EU market

Creatick Pro was launched in 2017 with a lot of enthusiasm and a high-quality product range. Although their range was tailored for the EU market, a marketing strategy and contact to European partners were lacking. Creatick joined the IPD programme in autumn 2019, and the Egyptian enterprise is now rapidly conquering the European market.
